!hola
I decided to join this community because I thought it seems like a fun idea for me - online book reading club :) But I just noticed there haven't been any suggestions/messages since January! Any ideas for the upcoming month? September - new season, new book?:)

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Is everyone ready for the October book?

I'll put together a poll tonight if so, and if no one else volunteers to do it. I don't want anyone to feel like I'm always doing them, I just don't like to wait until the middle of the month to start reading.

Middlesex [Jul. 15th, 2004|09:31 am]

Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides. This was a good book with an interesting, if circuitous story to tell.more, mini-spoilerish, originally posted to 50bookchallenge )

Spoiler warning: my more critical thoughts. )
Thoughts?

Oh, and did anyone else notice that [info]a_book_a_month is also reading Middlesex this month?

Hi everyone, here are the options for the June book - because it's so late I'd like to close voting by Friday the 18th at noon central time. Let me know if this is a problem for anyone.

I started and finished Fast Food Nation this weekend. It was a fast read, which is good.

OK, it's been a week.

Only 11 people voted on this poll: [info]jenbooks, [info]dawnsdream, [info]quackkwak, [info]pie_is_good, [info]arie, [info]icystarlight, [info]aajwind, [info]mortaine, [info]beginning, [info]kr8vkat, [info]silsbycarr

Here's the totals:

Crypto - 8
Quicksilver - 16
River Song - 3
Fast Food Nation - 32
The Templar Revelation - 5
Emma - 1
Dreamcatcher - 14

A couple of people voted for what they'd read, but not for the main poll. The numbers are such that it probably doesn't matter.

So, it looks like the book for May is Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal - Eric Schlosser
